So I haven't updated you guys on the happenings of the cobra lately and here is why.....I decided to get a new shortblock haha. Since my engine was stock I didn't wanna blow it up and chance it too much, so I said eff it and bought a brand new built shortblock...and this way I can part out my stock block. So the cobra is back at Gregs and has the stock engine yanked....the heads are being sent off to MMR and they are going to assemble the complete longblock and ship it back to him free of charge for him to just drop it in the car!

I know some of you have heard good and bad things, but I am veryyy confident in my decision...I've done a lottt of research and have made a tonnn of phone calls regarding all of this, so I'm very happy about it. Not to mention being stoked about having a high revving engine now.

MMR Street Mod 1000
*9.0:1 Compression ratio
*Brand New Cast Iron, current production 03/04 Supercharged Cobra Block, torque plate bored & honed
*New 1200+HP 4340 Forged 3.543 stroke Cobra Crankshaft w/micro polished journals
*New 4340 5.933 Manley H-beam Rods w/ARP bolts (These US made rods are shotpeened, magnafluxed and weight matched to bring the finest H-beam rod available for the 4.6)
*New Forged MMR/Manley or Diamond pistons 3.552 Bore size (High or low compression)
*Speed Pro file fit rings (precision file fit to my application: turbo)
*Speed Pro/Federal Mogul Rod and Main bearings
*Complete Pro Assembly and Balancing for the smoothest, highest revving shortblock available.
*MMR block side bolts
*ARP Main/Head studs
*Felpro Head gaskets

It should be done in about four weeks and in one week after that...sooo stoked to get this thing in and make even more power and a lottt safer!! :)

And here's some pics of what the engine will look like:

Thanks Jose! Well I'm hoping well over 800 with the 57's...we will see what happens though! I should definitely make more power though! hahaha and I love that "smiley"

Haha yahhh I definitely will...It's going to be streetable too. That's my goal...to have it as a weekend warrior too.

Don't you have a terminator? I thought termis can handle a decent amount of power stock

Congrats!!!
How much or how high do you expect your new engine to rev up to?

Yahhh I do...and they definitely can...but I'm going to be making over 800whp and that's making your engine a ticking time bomb when it isn't built. Not to mention if/when I decide to upgrade my turbos and go with 61's down the road I'll need to handle over 1,000whp :omg-1:

Thanks!! Well talking to them somewhere in the high 6 low 7 range! :D

I dont think the 57's will make 800. Just make sure the motor comes sealed with covers on :04:

I would recommend a AMS-1000 controller also. Maybe I should call dibs on your current shortblock :04:

Waiting for his motor to come in. I am just the installer/tuner.

BTW Brandon let me know when you want to take the hotside to the coaters.

So over the past week and a half I went and picked up/dropped off a bunch of parts from two different coaters. First off was my hot side turbo stuff that I had ceramic coated, and even though it won't be seen, it looks awesome! I only unwrapped a few of them.

Second off, I had all my engine pieces powder-coated flat black originally and it looked badasss on the car. I bought a new engine though and had that put in, and while that was happening I decided I wanted to re-do the powder-coat and have them do all of it in a wrinkle black instead. I picked up the first two test pieces last week and they look AMAZINGGGG. So I dropped the rest of the parts off and finally picked them up today!! They hadn't finished the one valve cover and I pick that up tuesday, then everything will be going in!

Most of these were taken in the garage tonight, they look even more amazing in the natural sunlight!

All the parts. Upper/Lower intake, timing cover, valves covers, fuel rails, inlet pipe, throttle body, turbo inlet pipe, coolant crossover, MAF housing, even the alternator bracket!!

And here are some close-ups of the turbo inlet and the MAF housing when I picked them up with some sunlight on them....still doesn't even come close to doing it justice in person!

Wow, that looks amazing! They did a good job! You definitely have to post pics up when the engine is done...

Question though. How is the coating for heat soak etc? Does it help, hinder or is it neutral in its effect on the under hood heat?

It sounds like you are going to have quite a beast on your hands when you get the new engine dropped in. I like the wrinkle coating far better than the flat finish. It gives the parts more pop when you lift the hood. Are you sticking with the T56 or going auto with the new setup?

Thanks man! I can't wait to finally get it all buttoned up! And in regards to heat soak it really does nothing, the engine temps will stay just the same. Now if you were to get items ceramic coated (like the turbo hot side pipes in my post) then the temps will be lower as well as the heat will disperse much quicker.

Thank you! Yahhh I totally agree, I liked the flat black, but it didn't have me all stoked like it does now! And for now I'm stay with the T56...but knowing me I'll prbly throw an auto in it down the road haha. :ihih:

Haha I know I'm sorry Jose....very soon man very soon! I have to head over to XRP tomorrow to pick up some black fittings and line for everything...getting rid of the bright aluminum look since it stood out way too much.
