So I started my P90x workout today and I have some questions about supplement shakes.
I decided to follow what my roomie takes which is this: http://www.championnutrition.com/node/5835/catid/37
I bought the strawberry flavor.
He told me I should be taking it once a day immediately after the workout. According to the container, it says take 4 scoops, but my roomie only takes 2 saying cause hes kinda thin and that I should as well.
So my question is, should I be taking the shake more than once a day or is taking it once immediately after the workout just fine?
Also, should I stick to 2 scoops or do the full 4? or maybe 3? I'm 5' 11" and weigh 242 pounds if that matters.
Thanks,
Brandon

depends what you want to do. If you're trying to gain weight then take the full serving like twice a day. If you're using it as a protein shake to build muscle, use half serving after workout. That's what I do

>Rule of thumb: Always take in protein right after a weight training workout. If you don't take it any other time that day take it right after your work out.
>Now as far as number of times a day it depends on your goal. If you are trying to bulk up and gain mass you want to consume at a minimum 1 gram of protein per lean pound of body weight daily. So it's best to figure out your body fat percentage and consume protein in accordance to the amount of muscle you have.
>If you are just trying to lean out then I would suggest a shake in the morning with breakfast, one at lunch and also one right after your workout. 4 scoops seems extreme for one serving so I would suggest going with two scoops a serving.
Being that you are going with P90X I'm certain you aren't out to be a bodybuilder So a great deal of protein and creatines honestly would be an overkill.
Hope this helps

Hmm thanks for the responses.
Well primarily my goal is to lose weight but who knows what I wanna do afterwards. I'm not exactly a thin stick, I just have a lot of excess body fat. So ideally I would like to lose fat and work a bit on muscles. Then afterwards maybe more muscle building.
So are you suggesting 3 servings of 2 scoops per day? I know one serving would be taken right after the workout but would it matter when in the day I take the other 2?
For instance if I take a shake with breakfast, work out before lunch and then have a shake.....and then have another shake soon later with lunch....would that be sorta imbalanced? to have 3 basically by noon and then nothing for the rest of the day?
Thanks

Lose weight? Well . . . you bought a weight gainer. A protein shake with a lot of calories

Yes you have a weight gainer. I would recommend just a good whey protein like Optimum nutritions 100%whey. You want to spread your servings out throughout the day. So one at breakfast, if you working out before lunch workout then drink your shake and eat lunch and at a minimum 4 hours later your 3rd serving. I tell most people to take in your protein at least every 4 hours, that gives your body time to process and digest it. I normally take mine in like clock work same time every single day and I snack between servings.
