I have a dual clock pod with wideband a/f gauge, and a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Now the a/f ratio I know what to do, one 12v wire, one ground, and the other goes to the o2 sensor wire. My question is about the oil pressure gauge, the instructions that came with the gauge doesn't have oil pressure instructions on it...what do I do? Has anybody installed this gauge before?

Well, it probably has 2 light wires (ground and a 12v light source wire), and some clear plastic tubing with ferrel fittings... if it's mechanical like you said.

What's your question?

Well it didnt come with instructions, lol, I have no idea where the fitting and things go. Im completely new to this, I can do engine stuff, but when it comes to this...Im retarded.

HA HA! It's all good. We all started in the same boat. Your not retarded.

Post up some pics of the stuff the gauge came with.. and we can help you piece it together, and give you some guidance.

The mechanical oil pressure gauge probably came with stiff like this... ?

The tube ends go together like this.... bottom the hose into the fitting, slide the ferrel down the hose to the neck of the fitting, and tighten the nut on the hose to the fitting.

The oil pressure fitting at the engine may have to go where your stock electric oil pressure sending unit went. The Autometer kit probably came with an assortment of adapters which will work. If you don't want the factory gauge in the dash to be dead, you can install a T fitting so both gauges will work. Keep the plastic tubing away from anything hot (if thats the type tubing you have), and from anything that can cut / rub through the tube.

i would NOT use that plastic tubing if you are installing the oil gauge in the car. It never ceases to amaze me why autometer sells it that way. If I were you, I'd replace it with some steel braided line.

Yep, I would have to agree. The reason I have that stuff I posted pics of is because I also opted to buy braided steel line to use with an Autometer oil pressure gauge in my old '65 Stang.

That's what I've been hearing, either steel braided or copper line is the best
