Car is all hooked up but when i trie to turn the motor over the car fires up and then quits running for after a second or so....any ideas....

a buddy of mine believes its iether the fuel pumps stopping after the key is turned back to on, he however doesn't have any way to check this theory.

another theory is that the tune is far too rich to sustain an idle. mearly theorys with no supporting data however.

For further explination here is a vid of what it does

When I put photobucket on it locks my computer up so I only saw it a couple times. Doesnt seem like its too rich, or not getting fuel. I could be wrong but it looks like the motor isnt turning over smoothly, comes to a fast stop? If it was rich, and no fuel pump it would choke. Pull the plugs, put it in nuetral, and see if the motor turns over fine.

Is this the email tunes I sent you? If so I loaded 3 files in there each one with less fuel.

yes this is the three tunes that you gave me i tried the three tunes with no luck, i actually turned the motor over with out the plugs about 5 or 6 times to prime the oil system and it seemed fine....
here is the vid of it turning over with out the plugs in

i pulled the old plugs and they are def black as **** and they did not go in looking like this, however we did some screwing around looking for some loose grounds and did find something....i found a loose bolt on the main fuse box in side the engine comp. (some loose wires) and i tighten them down...we messed around and reinstalled the stock factory tune and soon as i did that with new plugs in i open the TB all the way open and too mine and gufi's surprise the car reved to 5K when i started it....SCARED THE **** OUT OF ME....LOL but i instinctivly i shut it off because i didn't expect it to rev so i high right off the bat but....after trying some different things we reinstalled new tune and the engine still does the same thing

Tommy told me your set up, it wont be right on but should still start the car. Tow it in, maybe were missing something.

Yeah just bring it in, on a new engine the fuel trims should be right on so nothing gets washed.

Is it a slot style Pmas or a old style (tonsil)?

it is a slot PMAS, if i took the injectors down to 42's will it do any thing? I have to talk to tommy about getting the car up there. I'm thinking that i want to try and figure it out but if i cant get it to idle by the end of the week i'll have it up there by next week if i dont change my mind. I called the shop today but you weren't in but i talked with one of the techs and he said it sounds like a vacume leak but i just checked all of the couplings and they are good to go. This is basicly what i know it has spark, it has air, and fuel...i'm willing to bet it is something really small that is causing it and it's just a matter time some one stumbles upon it....Please let me know what you think....

Just bring it in, it would probably take us less then a half hour to find out whats wrong.

Yeah, on Mondays I am not at the shop, but my guys are.

OK car is here and we saw the problem before it was unloaded from the trailer. Your IAC hose needs to be in the pipe before the throttle body and after the maf on a blow thru set up, same thing with the pcv hose. We will pull the power pipe off and cut those fittings and weld them to the new spot. Also you have the old style (tonsil) maf, not the slot style. Either way with the hose moved that will fix it.

That Pmas meter wasnt working, i plugged in a 2800 SCT maf and it works good. You are leaking oil from the valve covers, and the timing covers. I will pm you. Lots of buttoning up still needs to be done before it thinks about a dyno.

It's a pretty mild cam i think i could get more out of it with a nastier cam profile but we'll see what she does when i get her on the track. Greg at Total performance was going to start on it on monday and hopefully i'll get it back for next weekend and i'll finish up the car and drive it back up there the following week. Im looking for around 500 to the tire or so...we'll see!!!!

i'm try and get the cage in and take her to barona or irwindale at the end of the month, i need to also change the uppers to the base line relocated uppers and dial the suspesion in starting from scratch...shooting 1.5's out of the hole to start...

I don't think Jay Allen does mild cams, so don't forget there is more to a cam than the lift numbers. It has to do with cam timing events and he does amazing things to maximize cylinder pressures.

We will get your suspension dialed in over here when it's ready. If I were you after seeing what Anthony's car was like, I would try to find a set of Foxbody GT springs for the rear.

Also get rid of that 2 1/2" exhaust! It's crap and a car with that much boost is going to be choking trying to spit out those little pipes. At the very least get rid of the blowmasters and get a straight through muffler instead of a chambered muffler. :pc7424:

Can't wait until this thing is ready to run. :party0031:

Ok so i talked with Greg at TP and the oil leak was an oil galley that is supposed to be covered with RTV, it's kind of weird but the car will be done today.

Also the timing cover didnt have silicone on the spots it should have it.
I think your car is bigger then you think it is. That or theres a vacuum leak somewhere lol

the cams seem to be pretty nasty sounding but i guess we'll see what it does on the dyno, i have been pretty adiment about having custom cams for the new TFS heads instead of some off the shelf cams...hope this proves to be true
