Your exhaust shot to the point you can't drive your car right now or do you have some time to save up for a good exhaust setup? I don't know a whole lot about the various set ups for your model but I do know you get what you pay for. If you got the time to save or buy piece by piece then that's what I would do.

Do you have a 5.0 or 4.6?

I always though that Flowmaster was the way to go for your model Mustang.

Well I think it depends on the motor, if you have the pushrod 5.0 you cant really go wrong with the 40 series flows. Im about to swap my flows for some LM1's, I wanted something different and louder. Also, if you want a smooth sound x-pipe is where it's at. Now the choppy muscle car sound is h-pipe. I have an x on my car and my dad has an h pipe and it is a big difference(we have the same catback and headers).
If you have a 4.6 I would say magnaflow or Bassani sound the best imo
But it all depends on what sound your going for.

I have a 98 GT with a 4.6 2v.... oh yeah its an auto too..I would love to do bassani but im low on cash...I was thinking UPR off road X-pipe and maybe a Mac catback...im kinda tired of the flows...lol...

lol, why not go craigslist/ebay hunting for a set of mufflers that you like and then buy a set of tailpipes($150 from 50resto) and make your own catback. Thats what I'm doing.

I found a Mac cat back new for 266.50 and an UPR off road X pipe for like 150.00 and i need o2 elimators for another $ 60 so for just around $500 thats the whole exhast not to bad it should sound pretty decent too no?....

Sounds pretty good to me. I bought SLP LM1's for $143 shipped brand new from SLP and Im going to a local muffler shop to get new tailpipes. But I didnt have to worry about o2 elimin. seeing how my o2 sensors were before my cats.

Yeah the 98 gt 4.6 has 4 o2's 2 pre cat and 2 after the cat so if you run an off road X the check engine light comes on so i guess that why you have to get the elimators to stop that.....
